FROM SERVICE CANADA
We are writing to inform you about the launch of two new tools that can assist individuals that visit your organization.
As part of an effort to improve the online experience, work is underway to offer organizations and individuals online tools based on life events. The new What to do when someone dies’ online tool was launched on Canada.ca as of October 23, 2024.
The tool offers information on:

  • The steps to take for those preparing for death,
  • Services relevant to navigating a death,
  • Survivor benefits and how to access them in a timely manner,
  • How to notify the federal government of a death.

In addition, the Government of Canada recently announced the launch of the new Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits Estimator tool to support individuals who have had to stop working while facing key life transitions.
This online tool is easy to use. By answering a few questions about their own situation, individuals will be provided with information about their potential eligibility to EI, the type of benefits they could receive, the amount they can expect and the number of weeks they could potentially receive.

The EI Benefits Estimator tool seeks to:

  • provide information about who might be eligible for EI benefits and how much they could receive, helping to reduce financial uncertainty during key life transitions,
  • encourage more people to use the Digital Channel as their main way of obtaining information about the EI program, and,
  • increase awareness about potential eligibility for EI Benefits among historically underserved groups, ensuring the information comes from a trusted source.

To help raise awareness about these new tools, Service Canada, can provide more information to your staff/volunteers or to your clients.

As part of our outreach services we offer Information sessions (virtual or in-person):

    • Customized presentations for your organization’s staff/volunteers to provide them with information on Service Canada programs and benefits, and how to access them.
    • Tailored presentations for your clients, to provide them with information on the tool and on other Government of Canada programs, services, and benefits that they may be eligible for, and how to access them.

If you have any questions, would like more information on Service Canada programs, services and benefits, or if you would like to plan an outreach activity with us, please do not hesitate to contact us using the link below. We would be happy to provide you or your staff with more information on our services at your convenience.
Sincerely,
