COMMONLY REQUESTED BYLAWS

BYLAWS

Municipal bylaws are laws passed by Council under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001 and other provincial legislation. Bylaws establish rules and regulations that residents, businesses, and the municipality must follow.

Bylaws are legally enforceable and may include penalties or enforcement measures.

Examples include regulations related to property use, municipal services, public behaviour, and administrative processes.

All Township of Schreiber bylaws are available through CivicWeb, the Township’s official document management system.

CivicWeb provides access to both current and historical bylaws passed by Council. Documents are organized by year and can be searched by keyword or bylaw number.

Bylaws may be updated, repealed, or replaced over time. The version available on CivicWeb reflects the most recent adopted version approved by Council.

CivicWeb allows residents to search for municipal bylaws using keywords, document numbers, or categories. If you’re not sure where to start, try the tips below.

Helpful search tips

  • Use keywords, not full titles (for example: “noise,” “dogs,” “parking,” “burning,” or “fees”)
  • Search by bylaw number if you know it (for example: “Bylaw 44-2025”)
  • Filter results by Document Type: Bylaw
  • Sort results by year if you know when the bylaw was passed
  • Browse categories or the bylaw index to see related regulations

💡 If a bylaw has been amended, CivicWeb may show the original bylaw along with amendment bylaws that update specific sections.

💡 If multiple versions appear, the most recent consolidated version is typically the one currently in effect.

💡 If you are unsure which bylaw applies to your situation, or need help interpreting a document, please contact the Township Office for assistance.

POLICIES

Municipal policies provide internal guidance for how the Township operates and how decisions are made by Council and staff.

Policies support consistent procedures, governance practices, and administrative standards but do not typically create enforceable laws like bylaws.

Policies help ensure transparency, accountability, and clear expectations for municipal operations.

Municipal policies are also available through CivicWeb and are typically organized within the Policies section of the document library.

Policies guide how the Township operates internally and how Council and staff carry out municipal responsibilities.

Policies may be updated periodically to reflect changes in legislation, best practices, or Council direction.
