We can help connect you with a variety of services related to animals:
- Dog Licensing
- Livestock Claims
Township does not have a by-law regulating cats.
As a dog owner in the Township of Frontenac Islands, you must get a dog licence each year as per our By-law 17-98. This helps us find your dog if they go missing and keeps our family pets out of animal shelters.

Lost and Found Dogs
Have you lost your dog, or found a dog wandering at large within the Township?
If you’re trying to locate a lost pet or check whether an animal has been brought in, the best course of action is to contact Kingston Humane Society directly.
You can reach them at 613-546-1291 ext. 102, which is typically the line for inquiries related to stray or found animals. When you call, be prepared to provide:
- A detailed description of the animal (species, breed, colour, markings)
- The location and date the animal was lost or last seen
- Any identifying features (collar, tags, microchip, etc.)
You can also ask if they maintain a current log or online listing of animals recently brought in by the public, as many shelters track this daily.
We want to help you reunite with your pet if it goes missing. When possible, share photos of your missing pet on Facebook. Consider searching for and posting in the groups “Kingston Community Lost & Found Pets” and “Lost & Found Pets (Kingston (Canada) and Surrounding Areas)”.

In addition to these amounts all boarding fees charged by the kennel and any veterinary service costs incurred respecting any treatment of injuries of any impounded dog, must be paid at the time a dog is claimed.

- 2nd Offence $153

Cats
Cat owners are not required to obtain licences or tags for their cats. If you have found or are missing a cat, we recommend posting photos of lost and found pets on social media. When possible, share pictures on Facebook, including the “Kingston Community Lost & Found Pets” and “Lost & Found Pets (Kingston (Canada) and Surrounding Areas)” to help reconnect pets with their owners.
Kennel Licencing
Dog Tags must be purchased annually for all dogs in the Township in accordance with By-law #17-98
