Draft Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw Available for Feedback

News Flash Posted on August 29, 2025

The City of Williams Lake is inviting residents, community partners, stakeholders and businesses to help shape the future of Williams Lake by reviewing the draft 2025–2050 Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw update.

CitySpaces Consulting Ltd., together with City staff, presented the draft OCP and Zoning Bylaw to Council at its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, August 26, seeking Council’s feedback, endorsement and direction to proceed with a new phase of public engagement.

“This is an important opportunity for our community to come together and help shape the future of Williams Lake,” said Mayor Surinderpal Rathor. “I encourage all residents to take part and share their ideas as we work toward building a sustainable, vibrant city for generations to come.”

The City has launched an online survey inviting residents to review each chapter of the draft plan and provide feedback on proposed policies. Topics include Parks and Recreation, Social Well-being and Inclusion, Ecosystem Protection and Land Use Planning. The survey will be available from August 29 to September 26, 2025.

Printed copies will also be accessible at City Hall, the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex and the Williams Lake Seniors Activity Centre.

In addition, community members will have opportunities to engage in person with Council and City staff. A public open house will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 3 to 7 pm at City Hall. The event will include informational displays, proposed zoning and land use maps and opportunities to speak directly with the OCP project team, ask questions and provide feedback on the draft changes.
