Brock Township considering short-term rental by-law

The Township of Brock is looking into developing a by-law to license and regulate short-term rentals like Airbnb.

A short-term rental is generally defined as all or part of a dwelling unit used to provide sleeping accommodations for a period of time.

The township is calling on anyone who has an interest in these rentals to complete an online survey.

They say they’re not proposing licensing owner-occupied bed and breakfast establishments.

They define a bed and breakfast as a single-detached dwelling containing not more than four guest rooms for overnight accommodation in which the owner supplies breakfast for monetary compensation.
