The Township of Malahide provides Dog Control Services in accordance with By-law No. 05-71. All dogs must be registered with the Township. Each dog is issued a lifetime tag, with the registration fee paid annually as outlined in the Dog Control By-law.
Why License your Dog
- If your dog goes missing, having your dog identified drastically improves your chance of getting them back safely.
- The tag is easy to spot and lets anyone who finds your pet know it belongs to someone.
- Your dog is returned to its home faster and spends less time in the shelter.
- If your dog is loose or involved in an emergency, its identification provides the information needed to contact you.
- It is a requirement to license your dog. If you do not, you are in contravention of the By-law.
How to License your Dog
The Township of Malahide dog registrations are valid for one calendar year, and the dog tags issued are permanent. If your dog is registered in our system, the annual registration invoice will be sent in January.
If you are a new dog owner, you can complete a
registration form and submit it with payment, and a dog tag will be provided to you.
Cat Licences
The Township of Malahide does not issue cat licences.
