Updated Fees and Charges Bylaw (2026)
Edson’s updated Fees and Charges Bylaw comes into effect January 1, 2026.
The Fees and Charges Bylaw is updated annually in accordance with Council’s approved budget and sets the various rates for the Town of Edson, including Leisure Centre fees, utility rates, business and animal licence fees, planning charges, and more.
This Bylaw was passed on November 18, 2025, and some of the key changes include:
Edson & District Leisure Centre
As the Town prepares for the future operation of the new YCE Multiplex, Council has approved modest, phased updates to EDLC user fees. This approach is intended to gradually prepare for increased operational costs once the facility opens.
- A 5% increase to EDLC user fees, excluding single admission passes
- This change will not affect any existing agreements and will take effect after the conclusion of the current hockey and swim season
- Single admission pass rates will be updated to $8 for adults and $15 for families
- Remove the pool party package as it is no longer offered
- Added Player's Bench Advertising
Assessment Review Board appeal fee
- Residential (up to 3 units) increased from $25 to $50
- Residential (more than 3 units) $25 to $250
- Non-Residential increased from $150 to $250.

- Update to new Act
Other Admin Fees and Charges
- Remove Double Registered Payment Demand
Utilities
- Remove after hours Utility Service Connection Fee
- Remove after hours Utility Service Disconnection Fee
- Move after hours Callout Fee to Other Utility Service and Inspections
Stormwater Management
To support future stormwater management projects and infrastructure needs, Council has approved an increase to the stormwater management charge.
- The monthly stormwater management charge will increase from $2 to $4
Planning & Development
- Change name to Non-Residential for consistent language
Other Development Fees
- Change Zoning Letter to Land Use District Confirmation Letter for consistent language
Animal Licensing & Pound fees - Update to include cat licences
- Combine after February 28 and after August 1 into one category
Solid Waste Management
- Move Recycling base rate into the Bylaw from the April amending bylaw
Outdoor Recreation
- Move Ball Diamond Fee from the April amending bylaw
- Add Fall Ball Diamond Fee for $150 per team
