The Municipality’s landfill sites provide waste disposal and recycling services for residents and approved users. Please review landfill hours, tipping fees, accepted materials, and site rules before visiting the site.
As part of new provincial legislation, changes have been made to garbage and recycling services. Please use the links below to learn more about updated requirements, accepted materials, and recycling guidelines.
Residential Garbage Collection
Clear garbage bags with a maximum size of 75 L must be used for garbage disposal. Residents are permitted to place one small colored privacy bag inside each clear garbage bag.
Residents who receive curbside garbage collection will receive 52 garbage bag tags annually from the Municipality. Residents may use these tags at their discretion throughout the year.
Each garbage bag placed for curbside collection must have a valid garbage tag securely attached or it will not be collected.
Additional garbage tags may be purchased from the Municipal Office for $2.00 per tag.
Residents who do not receive curbside collection services will receive a punch card to be used at the landfill site for garbage disposal.
Residents with curbside collection may also dispose of garbage at the landfill site, provided each garbage bag has a valid garbage tag attached.
Residential curbside pickup will take place every Tuesday.
Commercial Garbage Collection
Clear garbage bags with a maximum size of 75 L must be used for garbage disposal.
Commercial properties follow the same garbage bag tag system and will receive tags equivalent to six garbage bags per week annually.
Each garbage bag placed for collection or disposed of at the landfill site must have a valid garbage tag attached.
Additional garbage tags may be purchased from the Municipal Office for $2.00 per tag.
Curbside pickup runs will take place every Tuesday and Friday.
Residential Recycling
Residents who receive curbside collection services will continue to receive recycling collection through Circular Materials. Residents who do not have curbside pickup may continue to use the municipal landfill site during operational hours to dispose of recyclable materials.

Commercial Recycling
As of January 1, 2026, in accordance with new provincial regulations, commercial properties with road access are responsible for arranging their own garbage and recycling collection services through a private waste service provider.
Commercial properties located on the lake may use the Lake Temagami Transfer Station for recycling disposal during operational hours. A fee of $13.00 per bag applies.
Clear bags with a maximum size of 75 L must be used for recyclable materials.
Commercial properties will also be provided with a 75 L equivalent cardboard collection box at the Lake Temagami Transfer Station. Cardboard materials must be placed in the designated cardboard collection box and must not be placed inside clear recycling bags.
