Business Licences

Operating in Pemberton? Here’s what you need to know.

Whether you’re starting a new venture, running a home-based business, or setting up a food truck, you’ll need a valid business licence to operate in the Village of Pemberton. Business licences help ensure all businesses meet local bylaws and contribute to a safe, vibrant community.

Who Needs a Business Licence?

If you're offering goods or services within Village boundaries, whether you're a resident or a non-resident, you must hold a current business licence, as required under Business Licence Bylaw No. 855, 2019.

This applies if you're:

  • Selling, renting (e.g. short-term rentals), bartering, or displaying goods
  • Advertising a business
  • Providing professional or personal services for profit

Resident businesses must display their licence at their place of business.
Non-resident businesses must carry their licence while operating in the Village.

How to Apply or Renew

The Village uses Cloudpermit, an online platform for managing applications and inspections.

With Cloudpermit, you can:

  • Apply and renew licences from your phone, tablet, or computer
  • Track your application and receive updates
  • Communicate directly with Village staff
  • Schedule inspections, if required

Getting started:

  • Create an account at ca.cloudpermit.com/login
  • Attach any required supporting documents (see Additional Requirements below)
  • Submit your business licence application
  • Make your payment:
    • Pay in-person at Municipal Hall (7400 Prospect Street)
    • Online via OptionPay

Renewals

Business licences are valid for the calendar year and expire on December 31. Renew by January 31 to avoid a late penalty, in addition to the regular annual fee. For current rates, refer to Schedule F of the Fees and Charges Bylaw.

Depending on your business type, you may need to submit supporting documents.

  • Strata or property owner authorization
  • Pemberton Fire Rescue checklist
  • Sign permit application (for new signage)
  • Ministry approvals (for food or personal services)
  • Other documents specific to your business or location required by the licence inspector

If you're opening a restaurant, view the BC Starting a Restaurant Guide for helpful provincial requirements.
