Offsite Levies

Offsite levies are fees collected by the County of Vermilion River to help pay for major infrastructure upgrades needed to support new development.  These levies ensure that when new subdivisions or developments occur, the cost of required improvements – such as arterial roads, water and wastewater systems, and stormwater infrastructure – is shared fairly by those who benefit from the growth.

In the County of Vermilion River, offsite levies are established through Bylaw 12-04 and administered through Policy AD022.  These documents identify the areas where levies apply, outline how rates are calculated, and describe any exemptions or deferrals.  By collecting offsite levies, the County of Vermilion River can plan responsibly for future development, maintain essential infrastructure, and ensure that growth contributes to the long-term sustainability of the region.
